Educational Qualifications
Candidates must possess the following academic credentials to be eligible for the position of Assistant Professor in a Broad Speciality:
- Postgraduate Degree (MD/MS) in the relevant speciality, as approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC)/MCI.
- DNB-qualified candidates are also eligible. However, the required post-PG experience varies:
- DNB from institutions with 500 or more beds: 1-year Senior Residency.
- DNB from institutions with less than 500 beds: 2-year Senior Residency in a recognised Medical College.
- In subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry, non-medical candidates with M.Sc. (Medical) and Ph.D. in the respective subject may be considered, but only if no qualified medical candidates are available. The non-medical intake is capped at 15% of total posts in those disciplines.
Age Criteria
Applicants must be within the age range of 21 to 45 years as of 1 January 2025. This translates to a date of birth between 2 January 1980 and 1 January 2004.
The following age relaxations are permitted:
- 5 years for candidates from SEBC, SC, ST, Women, and Ex-Servicemen categories.
- 10 years for persons with 40% or more disabilities.
- 15 years for PWD candidates belonging to SEBC/SC/ST groups.
- 5 years for in-service government doctors (contractual/ad hoc).
Applicants will be eligible for only one category of age relaxation, whichever benefits them the most.
Application/Examination Fee
There is no examination fee applicable to any candidate category. This exemption is granted as per the General Administration & Public Grievance Department’s notification dated 11 April 2022.

Selection Process – How Will Candidates Be Shortlisted?
Candidates will be assessed through a written test, which will follow a structured pattern:
- Total Questions: 200 (MCQ format)
- Total Marks: 200
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer
- Duration: 3 hours
- Qualifying Marks: Decided by OPSC
Only those who qualify in the exam will be called for document verification. The number of shortlisted candidates will be twice the number of advertised vacancies or a minimum of 5 for each category, depending on availability.
In case of ties, preference will be given to:
- Higher marks in the MBBS exam.
- If MBBS marks are equal, the older candidate will rank higher.
